Nuclear Physics, Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology Initiative (NPAC)

Building from core capabilities and expertise at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), we have launched a Laboratory Initiative in nuclear physics, particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology (NPAC) that will enable a program of discovery and establish PNNL as a scientific leader within the international physics community.

Why NPAC?
Fundamental physics is a priority in the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Office of Science. In many ways, physics has, historically, defined DOE’s cultural outlook.

The NPAC Initiative is viewed as a critical investment for raising scientific leadership and visibility in High Energy and Nuclear Physics. NPAC underpins and cuts across a deep bench of core capabilities that serve the fundamental science mission, as well as applied missions across PNNL.

Hear what PNNL scientists are working on as the NPAC team strives to solve the mystery of elusive dark matter in our universe.
