Eric Hoppe is an Analytical Chemist who has focused his nearly 30 years of research developing assays for a variety of materials to define their radiopurity, such as the determination of extremely low levels of contaminants such as uranium and thorium.

Eric is a member of a number of low background physics collaborations, and leads multi-disciplinary teams of material scientists, physicists, and engineers. 

His many awards and honors include being the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Mentor of the year in 2004, being selected as the Analytical Lead by the U.S. DOE Congressional oversight committee, and being awarded the Laboratory Directors Award of Excellence – The Fitzner-Eberhardt Award - for Outstanding Contributions to Science and Engineering Education.
